Privacy
In short: this site itself sets no cookies and builds no profile of you. The YouTube trailer and the visit counts only load once you allow them in the banner; only then can YouTube set cookies.
Who is responsible
Hannes, developer of hanneslauncher (GitHub: @Hannes-swd). hanneslauncher is a private, non-commercial hobby project: no company, no ads, no income. Contact: email (the address appears when you tap it).
Hosting by Vercel
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. On every visit Vercel processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested address, browser identifier) to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in running it securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
I use the free Hobby plan. Vercel's data processing agreement only covers the paid plans, so Vercel processes this data under its own privacy notice. In my Vercel account the request logs are only visible for one hour; how long Vercel keeps them beyond that is up to Vercel (by its own account, no longer than necessary). Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which covers the transfer to the USA.
What is stored in your browser
This site sets no cookies. Your browser's local storage holds at most three entries: your choice in the cookie banner (hl-consent-v1), the language if you switch it by hand (hl-lang), and the look if you switch between light and dark or change the design controls (hl-design: colour theme, rounding, shadows). None of it ever leaves your browser. The entries stay until you clear them in your browser settings.
Fonts, pictures, videos, 3D model
All come from this site itself. There are no requests to Google Fonts, CDNs or the like.
Version number and release list
The current version and the release list are fetched from GitHub by this site's server (at Vercel), not by your browser. Only when you click a GitHub link or the download do you connect to GitHub (GitHub, Inc., USA); their privacy policy applies then.
The trailer (YouTube)
The trailer only loads when you play it or allow “Trailer (YouTube)” in the banner. It then comes from youtube-nocookie.com, run by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google receives, among other things, your IP address, may set cookies and may also transfer data to the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). More in Google's privacy policy.
Visit counts (Vercel Web Analytics)
Only if you allow “Visit counts”. Vercel Web Analytics sets no cookies. It records the page viewed, the referring page, browser, operating system, device type and rough location (country, region, city, derived from the IP address). Repeat views are recognised by a hash that Vercel computes from the request and discards after 24 hours. Vercel stores nothing that would identify individual visitors or follow them across other sites; I only see totals. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Changing your consent
Any time via (also at the bottom of every page). Withdrawing applies from the next page load; processing allowed before stays lawful.
If you write to me, I use your address and message only to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The mailbox is hosted by Gmail (Google). I delete the messages once the matter is settled.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and you can withdraw consent. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest (hosting) on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). An email to me is enough. You can also complain to a supervisory authority; in Italy that is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Do you have to provide data?
No. You don't have to enter anything to use the site; only the technically necessary connection data is processed, otherwise the site cannot be delivered. There is no automated decision-making and no profiling.
Changes
When something on the site changes, I update this policy. The date at the top always shows when it was last changed.
And the app?
This policy covers the website. The app itself contains no ad or tracking library; what it needs and why is listed in the README under “Permissions”.
